Foolproof Cheddar Cheeseburger Recipe

A foolproof 20-minute burger recipe with minced sirloin, cheddar, pickles and red onion, ideal for sharing with friends.

Bringing friends together and not sure what to cook? Homemade burgers are an easy crowd-pleaser. The original Tramontina recipe uses minced sirloin, cooked on a grill or in a frying pan and served with cheddar, pickles and red onion.

Toast the buns, add your favourite sauce or mayonnaise, lettuce and tomato, then assemble and serve straight away. The recipe makes 10 burgers and takes around 20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1.8kg minced sirloin beef
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • A little salted butter, for cooking
  • TO SERVE
  • 10 burger buns
  • Your chosen sauce or mayonnaise
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Pickles
  • Red onion, thinly sliced
  • Cheddar cheese
  • All toppings to taste

Method

  1. Using kitchen scales, divide the minced sirloin into 10 portions of 180g each. Shape each portion into a ball and set aside.
  2. Heat a grill or frying pan with a little salted butter. Place a ball of meat on the hot surface and press it with a spatula to form a burger patty.
  3. Season with salt and black pepper, then cook for approximately 3 minutes on each side, or until thoroughly cooked through.
  4. Toast the buns, spread with your chosen sauce or mayonnaise and add lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, red onion and cheddar cheese to taste. Serve immediately.
